NORTH DOWNS
In a quiet wooded valley in an unspoilt area of the chalk North Downs, Juniper Hall, leased from the 17th century. It is about 1 km from Box Hill and only 40km from central London.
Fieldwork Opportunities
In an area of outstanding geological, geographical and biological interest. The centre offers a wide range of habitats – chalk grassland, heathland, woodland, flowing and still freshwather – many of which show the impact of the pressure of people and human management. Being close to London there is also the opportunity to study the effects of large urban area on the countryside and the way land can be managed to cope with the impact of people.
Accommodation
75 beds – students are accommodated in twin, shared rooms and dormitories.
Facilities
4 laboratories/ workrooms, library, computers, drying room, games room, student common room, shop, weather station, disabled access/ bedrooms.
